Sababa: The UH-Israel
Alliance was started in
Spring of 2006 as the
University of Houston's
first pro-Israel student
organization. Sababa, a
Hebrew/Arabic word is a
symbol of what the group
seeks to portray: a
“cool” Israel. An Israel
that focuses more on the
history of the people,
the contributions
Israelis have made to
the world and modern
Israeli culture. Sababa
seeks to bring Israel to
campus in a manner that
does not focus on the
Arab-Israeli conflict.
Through events and
lectures, Sababa seeks
to change the campus
attitude towards Israel
to a more fair, balanced
and positive view of
Israel.
